Our Responsibility

Thrunton crag

Riding is permitted as long as the below rules are adhered to:

  • Mountain biking must NOT be publically advertised (This includes posting geotagged content on any social media)
  • Mountain Bike routes must NOT be marked by signs, social media, apps or the web (This includes Trailforks)
  • Trail Maintenance and builds are NOT permitted by anyone other than Thrunton Trail Association (If you want to help or have an idea for a new track come to one of our dig days)
  • Commercial operations are NOT allowed within the forest. This essentially means any guiding, filming or activity in which an individual or organisation can profit from the forest is not allowed. The only way this is allowed is if Forestry England has given permission.

Thrunton trails are unique as they are natural-style trails. Unfortunately, these trails are not designed for large numbers of riders. This means the above rules don’t just help us keep our agreement with Forestry England but also minimise traffic on the trails which is important for the longevity of our trails. You can read more about our unique trails here.

Building is permitted as long as it is organised by TTA and the below rules are adhered to:

  • NO Powertools are permitted (e.g. Chainsaws) – This is due to the health and safety regulations by Forestry England as well as our insurance not covering this.
  • NO Building with any wood in the forest – Wood deteriorates over time and it can be hard to tell when it may break or fail which can lead to accidents.
  • Any builds carried out by TTA must have an attendance record along with any accidents. This is for our insurance purposes as well as our agreement with Forestry England.

If you are unsure of any rules or have any questions regarding this please get in touch using the contact section of our website.
